St. Joseph Medical Center to Launch Mede Business Analytics
Analytics Suite to Improve Financial, Operational and Clinical Performance
Emeryville, CA, August 27, 2007 —Emeryville-based Mede (Mede), has contracted to provide performance-enhancing business analytics at St. Joseph Medical Center, an affiliate of the Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) network, located in Towson, MD. Mede’s Registration Quality™ Analytics, Revenue Cycle™ Analytics and Profit Margin™ Analytics will be used by the medical center and the central billing office to ensure data accuracy, better manage the revenue cycle and gain an understanding of service-line profitability to improve financial and operational performance.
“Mede’s suite of analytic solutions is unique in its ability to provide insight and transparency into our data to improve financial performance, optimize operational efficiency and help drive continuous improvement in clinical quality,” stated Michelle Mahan, chief financial officer at St. Joseph Medical Center. “We look forward to using Mede’s solutions and expertise to help achieve these initiatives.”
St. Joseph Medical Center is an early adopter of Mede’s Profit Margin Analytics, which leverages cost, revenue, contract, clinical and marketing data for margin analysis, service line planning and improved hospital-physician relationships. The solution will help St. Joseph better understand service-line profitability at the patient level and engage physicians in dialogue in order to monitor and track average length of stay and optimize supply costs.
“The Mede solution will empower clinicians with the data they need to make improvements from a quality and cost perspective,” said Richard Boehler, chief medical officer at St. Joseph Medical Center. “We recognize the strong business case for ensuring quality and this represents a partnership between the medical and finance staff.”
“We are excited to work with St. Joseph Medical Center and leverage Mede’s business analytics suite to help the organization improve financial and operational performance,” stated Michael Gallagher, chief executive officer of Mede. “We are proud of our continued success in developing solutions that meet the evolving needs of healthcare executives by eliminating data transparency and workflow barriers.”
