MedeAnalytics Launches
Performance Management Consulting Services
Services address the strategy–execution gap
EMERYVILLE, Calif., March 1, 2010 — MedeAnalytics, a leading provider of healthcare performance management solutions, announced the introduction of its Performance Management Consulting organization, which adds strategic and operational consulting expertise to the company’s performance management analytics solutions.
MedeAnalytics is initially offering integrated Performance Management solutions in three areas:
- Design and strategic implementation of Performance Management across the enterprise. This closes the strategy–execution gap and ensures that strategic goals are met by giving everyone from the top to the bottom of the organization the information they need to make the right decisions and empowering them to act on the information.
- Operational implementation of Performance Management throughout the hospital revenue cycle, from patient access to billing and collections. Most hospitals realize a one percent to three percent improvement in annual net revenue and a 10 percent to 20 percent cash-generating reduction in accounts receivable.
- Operational implementation of Performance Management to change clinician behavior, resulting in improvements in clinical quality and safety, resource utilization and coding. Most hospitals can expect to realize five percent to 10 percent reductions in average length of stay, resource utilization and costs, as well as substantial improvement in profitability. MedeAnalytics is now working with several clients to improve clinical quality and patient safety performance.
Doug Thompson, a veteran healthcare consultant, directs MedeAnalytics’ Performance Management Consulting organization. Thompson is a leading national expert in defining and measuring the value of healthcare information technologies and translating these technologies into operational improvements and strategic advantage for their clients. “Ever since my early days as a hospital operations consultant, I’ve been looking for a technology infrastructure that could hard-wire the benefits we were able to produce, and MedeAnalytics offers that capability,” Thompson observed.
Thompson has assembled an experienced team of strategy, revenue cycle operations and clinical consultants to drive organizational transformation. Ben Foster recently joined MedeAnalytics from Stockamp and Associates, where he was a Managing Director. Foster commented, “What attracted me to join the MedeAnalytics team was the opportunity to develop provider solutions that truly integrate best practice process reengineering with an industry-leading business intelligence platform.”
Terry Fouts, M.D., chief medical officer for MedeAnalytics and a former health plan medical director, led the clinical transformation effort at St. Joseph Medical Center (SJMC), in Towson, Md. “For most of my career I’ve worked with physicians to help improve quality and control resource utilization. We bring tools and expertise to help physician executives change clinician behavior. Our results at SJMC speak for themselves, and include a direct improvement in hospital profitability,” said Dr. Fouts.
Judy Springer, R.N., chief nursing officer for MedeAnalytics and formerly with Cerner, is currently working with Orlando Health to create a more efficient way to address Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and physician reappointment through the development of a current dashboard of key provider performance indicators, including procedure and role volumes, patient satisfaction, and core measure outcomes. About this effort, Springer noted, “Working with key clinical leadership to pull multiple systems and measurements together will equip physician leadership with a comprehensive view into physician performance.”
MedeAnalytics’ Performance Management Consulting organization works exclusively in the healthcare industry and offers pre-configured applications rather than a platform on which users must build their own system. MedeAnalytics offers a complete, balanced Performance Management Consulting service, including both strategic and operational capabilities across different hospital functions.
