Mike Gallagher

Mike Gallagher has over 30 years experience in healthcare executive leadership, with demonstrated success in management, operations, strategic planning, financial controls, acquisitions and divestitures. Mike assumed the role of chief executive officer in 2007 after serving on the MedeAnalytics board of directors since 2004, as vice chairman from 2006-2009, and added the chairman role in April 2009.

Mike most recently served as a partner in Shamrock Investments, LLC, a firm he co-founded in 1987. He has been an investor and advisor in numerous merger and acquisition and strategic planning engagements, and has served on the boards of several public and private providers and health plan organizations. He was formerly chairman, president and chief executive officer of Health Net of California, chief executive officer of Paragon Ambulatory Surgery and a group vice president with American Medical International. Mike’s professional career also included positions with Coopers & Lybrand and service in the United States Marine Corps.

Mike holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master's of business administration from the University of Southern California, and sits on the board of The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation.

Sal DeTrane

Sal joined MedeAnalytics in 2004 and is responsible for all business development initiatives, including channel and partnership development, as well as merger and acquisition activities. He also helps to define corporate strategy and drives business planning.

Prior to joining MedeAnalytics, Sal was a founding managing director of Nucleus Partners LLC, a venture capital and consulting business. While at Nucleus, Sal supported the MedeAnalytics' Board for over 18 months in developing and executing their business strategy and realizing the successful syndication of a Series B funding round.

Prior to Nucleus Partners, Sal had significant roles in managing The Halo Fund, a $25 million venture fund that co-invested with The Angels' Forum, an angel organization with a $20 million private equity portfolio. While at Nucleus Partners and The Angels' Forum, he was an active advisor and participant on many of the boards of directors of early and growth-stage portfolio companies. Prior to that, Sal was a director in Andersen's Technology Corporate Finance Practice, where he advised and assisted clients on acquisition, divestiture, joint venture and private equity transactions in a broad range of technology and healthcare segments. Sal has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Temple University and is a certified public accountant. Sal relaxes shooting hoops and coaching his son’s sports teams and is a newbie in the world of wine-making.

Terry Fouts, M.D., joined MedeAnalytics in September 2008 as chief medical officer with a leadership role guiding the strategic development of MedeAnalytics’ clinical products and services. Dr. Fouts served for 19 years as a medical executive for healthcare providers and major health plans, developing policy, wellness and disease management programs, quality initiatives and product development. He has been responsible for managing national and international programs to reduce medical costs and strengthen health operations. Dr. Fouts’ medical executive career follows a 19-year career as a practicing internist.

Most recently, he served as senior vice president and chief medical officer at Great-West Healthcare in Greenwood Village, Colo. Prior to that, Dr. Fouts was national medical director for patient management and clinical cost management, respectively, for Aetna. He also served as vice president of medical management for CIGNA International.

Dr. Fouts earned his B.A. from the University of Kansas and his M.D. from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He served his internship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX and residency at Maricopa County General Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz. Dr. Fouts served as a general medical officer in the United States Air Force and was board certified in internal medicine in 1976.

In his spare time he makes great use of everything Colorado has to offer. Living in the Rockies gives him access to world-class mountain biking, hiking, skiing and on occasion, annoying the local trout population.

Steve Lerch

Steve Lerch joined MedeAnalytics in June 2009. With over 30 years in business, management and public accounting, Steve brings a unique blend of broad industry skills, significant transaction experience and an extensive public company finance and operating background to the company.

Most recently, Steve served as the chief revenue officer for Kowabunga! Inc. (AMEX: KOW), a leader in performance marketing and technology solutions for the online advertising industry. Prior to that, Steve spent 11 years serving as the chief financial officer and chief operating officer for Workstream, Inc. (NASDAQ: WSTM), an on-demand software company in the talent management space, and Rewards Network, Inc. (NASDAQ: DINE), a credit card-based loyalty marketing and finance platform. Prior to his various executive suite roles, Steve was a business assurance partner for Coopers & Lybrand LLP, now PricewaterhouseCoopers, where his client base included numerous healthcare institutions.

Steve and wife Renee have four children ranging in age from 19 to 27. Steve is an avid sports fan and golfer and is also very active in various parish ministries. He is a history buff and enjoys reading. Steve holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame.

Judy Springer, MS, RN

Judy Springer joined MedeAnalytics in December 2008 with 30 years of healthcare and healthcare IT experience. Judy serves as the company’s chief nursing officer and plays a leadership role for strategic development of MedeAnalytics’ clinical solutions and services. Judy’s healthcare experience spans the acute care continuum—from direct patient care focused on pediatrics and adult outpatient medical and surgical services, gastroenterology and oncology to nursing clinical education, administration and hospital healthcare IT.

Prior to joining MedeAnalytics, Judy served for 11 years at Cerner Corporation. Her most recent role was leading the U.S. Strategist Group, working with clients to develop strategic roadmaps that tied their business and strategic imperatives along with IT strategies to meet and exceed financial, operational and clinical goals. She also played key roles in competitive positioning and served in large healthcare client implementations and upgrades, providing professional services for integrating applications and foreign systems to support the clinicians and users healthcare processes. She also served as product manager for the community hospital segment. Prior to Cerner, Judy worked in a variety of roles for 21 years at a community hospital organization in Illinois.

Judy earned her BSN from Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University and her MS in medical surgical nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau and AONE.

Judy enjoys spending time with husband and children, cooking, reading and volunteer activities.

Dave Watson

Dave is a senior IT executive with 25 years of delivering business solutions across a variety of business areas. Dave joined MedeAnalytics from Kaiser Permanente in 2007.

At Kaiser, Dave served as senior vice president and chief technology officer, where his responsibilities included technology long-term strategy, systems architecture and information security services across Kaiser’s hospitals, medical groups and insurance companies, serving nearly nine million members in nine states. Prior to Kaiser, Dave served in a variety of executive IT roles in the life sciences sector at Baxter Healthcare and at Allergan, Inc. Before his tenure in healthcare, Dave worked for recognized industry leaders such as Northrop Grumman and Mattel.

Dave is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School’s Executive Development Program and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California. Away from the office, Dave enjoys spending time with his family, deep sea fishing and advising a select group of healthcare and technology startups.

In Vinnie Mirchandani’s book, The New Polymath: Profiles in Compound-Technology Innovations, Dave comments on how the increased accumulation of data in healthcare allows for much better disease management:

Sandy Cugliotta

Sandy Cugliotta joined MedeAnalytics in February 2008 with more than 20 years experience in healthcare information technology. Sandy oversees all U.S. provider sales.

Prior to joining MedeAnalytics, Sandy served as senior vice president at Thomson Healthcare where he led the global provider sales organization. Earlier, he served as vice president and general manager of the North Atlantic region for Cerner Corporation and led global sales for eClaro Corporation, a supplier of human capital management systems and services to the information technology industry. He spent eleven years with Shared Medical Systems Corporation (Siemens) in enterprise sales in the southeast and strategic sales to large accounts and held engineering and management positions in the company’s development organization.

Sandy earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Widener University and a master's in finance from Saint Joseph’s University.

Sandy is a member of HIMSS and HFMA. He is an active volunteer at his children’s schools, church and for the Special Olympics. Sandy’s favorite times are spent with wife Kathleen and his children Katie, Thomas and Kristine.

Scott Paddock

Scott Paddock joined MedeAnalytics in July 2008 with more than 15 years experience in operations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate sales and marketing, with an emphasis in healthcare and a history of achievement in leading revenue expansion. Scott oversees all U.S. payer sales.

Most recently, he served as executive vice president and chief solutions officer at MEDecision, Inc. Prior to MEDecision, Paddock was senior vice president of the Applied Technologies Solutions Division of RWD Technologies and spent over seven years in the health care and technology sectors of General Electric (GE) Corporation in various leadership, marketing and sales positions.

Scott is a trained Six Sigma Black Belt and holds a master's degree from Franklin University of Ohio. He earned bachelor's degrees in mechanical engineering and physics from the State University of New York at Buffalo and Fredonia, respectively.

Scott is a member of HIMSS and the American College of Healthcare Executives. Scott spends his time off with wife Jane and children Evan and Maddison, along with his passion for remodeling and building specialized wine cellars.

Ken Perez

Ken Perez joined MedeAnalytics in February 2009 as senior vice president of marketing with over 20 years of experience in business, serving in senior marketing, business development and finance roles for technology and healthcare IT companies. Ken leads the strategic direction and orchestration of all of MedeAnalytics' marketing functions, including product management, product marketing and marketing communications.

Previous to MedeAnalytics, Ken was a senior partner in a highly successful boutique sales and marketing consulting firm and was president of a California-based, international nonprofit organization. Ken served for seven and a half years as the vice president of marketing for Omnicell, Inc. (NASDAQ: OMCL), a healthcare IT company he helped take public in August 2001, writing the company's S-1, shaping road show messaging and sharing responsibility for investor relations with the company's CFO. Omnicell's market capitalization increased during Ken's tenure from $150 million at the IPO to over $600 million. Additionally, Ken spent 11 years with Hewlett-Packard Company, serving in a variety of financial management and business development positions.

Ken earned his bachelor's degree in international relations from Stanford University and a master's degree in finance from UCLA. Ken is an avid skier and has enjoyed coaching youth basketball teams. He and his wife Janet have three teenage children.

Doug Thompson

Doug Thompson joined MedeAnalytics in September 2009 as senior vice president, business advisory services, with over 20 years of experience in consulting. A recognized expert in defining and measuring the value of healthcare information technologies and translating technologies into operational improvements and strategic advantage, Doug is responsible for MedeAnalytics’ consulting offerings, which enhance the company’s performance management value proposition.

Prior to joining MedeAnalytics, Doug was a director for Navigant Consulting (NYSE: NCI), a specialized, international consulting firm. Before Navigant, from 2001-2008 he served as a principal and strategy expert for CSC/First Consulting Group, primarily working for healthcare providers. From 1997 to 2000, Doug served as president of Ivan Thompson & Co., and from 1993 to 1997, he was vice president of APACHE Medical Systems, Inc., for which he founded and directed the firm’s management consulting practice. Doug also was a manager with Ernst & Young from 1989 to 1993, working with healthcare clients, and started his career at the healthcare consultancy APM, Inc.

Doug holds a bachelor's degree in general business from Brigham Young University and a M.B.A. degree in marketing from Columbia University Business School. Doug enjoys looking at and making art, hiking and camping in the mountains, and is an All-American track athlete. Doug and his wife, Michele, are the proud parents of four young adults.
